technically i didnt swear i usd an acronym an abbreviation for such words that arent necessarily bad such as what the freak, fudge ect... but then i guess you could say those are just substitutes for cursing and thus forth have the same effect and are just as bad but are commonly used and accepted as not being curses

easy there boys clam down. but ya know im i used to believe that it was bad peoples fault but im beginning to think that it is more of a socail issues. i mean think about it why do we ascribe a bad moral value to a curse word. what makes saying the word "$*%#" worse than crap, poop, poo, caca, dookie, or feces? its cultural. i think its even sub cultural. For example saying the word "$*%#" is accepted as a norm in America. However, in Christian curcles saying that word is unacceptable, and looked down upon. Now im not saying that using curse words is ok. scripture says that for every word you speak you will give an acount for it. We will be held accountable for our words, but at the same time words that we say in america may not be bad in another part of the world, and at the same time things that might be said in america might be bad in another part of the world.

We shouldn't say those words because they are, or have previously been known as "swear words". Most of them mean bad things as well, so it's not just because they're considered swearing but because of their actual meaning.

yes i agree but all im saying is that people have given those words meanings. guess what honkey, cracker they were once considered curse words. interesting hun? why are those words acceptable now. Society has come to accept them as being "ok" to use. i personally can't stand when people use words such as the F bomb, Jesus Christ in vain, or God, or the GD phrase. but i also feel that the basic deffinition of profanity is a word, expression, gesture, or other social behavior which is socially constructed or interpreted as insulting, rude, vulgar, desecrating, or showing disrespect. When you pair this with how God wants us to act and live then it shines new light to the verse about giving an account of what we say and what we do.
