Prayer for an Addict in need of Redemption

Hi, it's me ChaingunDude (XB Live Gamertag), My real name is Daniel. The reason I am posting this prayer request is because I am confident that I can trust you. I need prayer, Prayer that I can overcome (with God's power and grace) my afflictions caused by my addiction to pornography. I have not had sex yet and I am waiting for the one I marry. Unfortunately this is hindering my chance for a stable and honest marriage if that day comes and I am still sexually bonded by this sin. I do not look at any kind beyond what is considered "acceptable" to the lost of this world; however, just because the world finds it acceptable doesn't mean it has any place in God's beautiful kingdom. It doesn't. Thank you for caring about me brothers and any who need prayer can post it if you want (not just for addictions but for daily struggles) I will definitely pray for you in return. i will pray for you daniel it can be a hard strugle but also an easy one if you just accept gods help, i know i have been where you are, i strugled with this for about four years and still sometimes am tempted, but i realised what do i get out of it? is a short time of pleasure worth an eternity in ^&%? for me it was something, a temptation that crept up in boredom. idk what it is for you but you can over come it if you need to talk you can talk to me or if you just need someone to keep you accountable. but also pray for me please so that i may remain strong in restisting our temptations.

to all my brothers who i never shared this with before i appologize i sought to fix my problem on my own and mostly i was in a time of disconnect and ignoring god in a way you could say i had lost my faith from the begining that i joined this clan. i guess in a way i hoped it would pull me back which it did help alot being around everyone here in a clean enviroment but god pulled me back it just took some time and alot to do with my current church and youth group, but i thank you all. and if upon finding this out any of you want me to leave the clan i will respect that and will leave.

It's amazing that you shared this, because I struggle with the same thing. And sometimes it's exactly like JDH says. It's just a temptation that creeps up when I'm bored. I've been struggling with this for about 6 months now, and sometimes I feel like it's getting worse. I'll pray for you guys, and I hope you'll pray for me as well.

Well..it is crz how many peeps have problems with porn..for real..i mean it is EVERYWHERE!..its all over the net!..it takes alot to not look at it..because it is so easy to find!..i know excactly what u guys are sayin..and also JD..u are always welcome in SoG silly..we don't judge noone in SoG..we are like a big family..and u have been here with us for along time..but i will pray for u guys!..for sure!..and pray for me aswell!..if u could..thanks guys!

Everyone has their struggles that they deal with and it sounds cliche but its the truth that accepting that you have things to work on is the hardest step in overcoming those challenges..most people either don't recognize or won't admit to needing to work on things..the next step truly is the easy part..hand you struggles over to god and be truly willing to follow where he leads you..it's amazing what he can do...i'll be prayin' for ya and welcome to the clan

yes it is indeed too easy to find and its not even on the web sites half the time everything today is directed toward our desires in a do what you want world, most comercials nowadays are geared to spark desires not to mention tv shows, magazines and everything else. the problem is its so readily accepted anymore so its up to us to take the stand to reject it

Look into getting an internet filter and have someone set the password up for you. Most of all remember that God will always provide a way out of temptation.

Trust in God and he will help you to overcome anything!

It's funny. I just entered the Prayer Request forum to ask for the same thing. God works in mysterious ways.

Listen servant, I'm right there with you man. I've been struggling with lust and masturbation since High School. I'm a Sophomore in college right now, and I'm still struggling with it. However, you've already made the important first step, you've sought help. I didn't bother trying to get help until THIS year. Know that it's not an easy battle. Sexual temptation is everywhere in our society today.

Prayer, Accountability, and Scripture are the most powerful tools that Christ has given us to fight against temptation. Pray for God's strength and he will bless you with it. You're already seeking accountability and that's a huge step. Start looking through scripture to help you. Remember that Scripture is considered the sword that we may fight back with against any kind of temptation that the enemy may throw at us.

Finally, don't forget that, even if you do slip up, it's not the end of the world. God loves you no matter what. The bible tells us that there is NOTHING that can separate us from God's love. If you pray for forgiveness he will give it to you. Don't feel like he'll never love you if you continue to struggle. It just means he wants you to rely on him. Don't forget to forgive yourself as well. That's the hardest part, trust me. You have to forgive yourself and say that you'll try even harder to fight back.

As long as you're not fighting alone, you can win. If you fight with Christ by your side, you will beat this sin. I'm right here with you Servant. Keep your head up and trust in God.
