need some help

hey guys whats up havent been around in awhile hope ya'll doing well, im sorta looking for some insight so for the past like 2 months my xbox has decided to basically quit working i dont have the red rings of death but the disk tray thing it comes out and goes in fine but ive come to the conclusion that the part inside it that actually spins the disk doesnt work anymore cause like if i bang on the xbox right after i put the disk in it will work sometimes but if i dont like i can here it revving up like its gonna spin the disk but then it stops and says no disk, and i can fix it if i buy another um idk the metal box that has the reader and part that spins disk in it haha sorry ive taken my other xbox apart to fix it before so i know what it looks like but i cant think how to explain it, but anyways i was thinking id try to send it in and see if microsoft will fix it but ive never done that before so i was wondering what all i need to do? i gotta call in right and see if theyll fix it but do i get the number off xbox.com for that?

You can get on xbox.com and find where you can get a repair number and send it in by UPS or something. It's how I got mine fixed but I don't remember where all the links are, sorry.

yeah, xbox.com or the stuff that came with the xbox will both have details about that. I've had great experiences with microsoft so far in terms of getting my xbox fixed. They're quick and efficient, which isn't usual for a large company like theirs.

yeah i found stuff on the web i guess its gonna be 99.99 for me to get it fixed instead of free cause its not the red ring kinda gay i dont see the difference when either way its faulty equipment

I had this same problem with my original xbox console... I would think they would have fixed it in the 360 console, or at the least fixed it no charge when it occured.. I just hit my conesole on the top like you said, and it would work fine usually. But my problem was that the tray wouldn't come out. It usually read the discs ok. It eventually stopped reading discs too though. Once that happened I just sprayed in some compressed air to blow of the dust off the reading laser of the discs and it read them ok. I had to do it more than once though.... Also compressed air is bad for your consoles since... well because your blowing air really hard on fragile stuff I guess... but it was a make it or break it situation.. plus that was the original console not the 360... But I can't believe they don't fix that for free =P

haha oh and i could easy, the problem would be doing it without taking it apart and busting that little microsoft sticker cause then if they know youve been into it they wont fix it

Looks like you're either going to have to pay the 100 to get it fixed or cough up a little more and the an arcade edition brand new from the store.

well i thought about that but a friend of mine did that and he has alot of problems with the 120 hard drvie and that and those cant play old xbox games im gonna go to a local store soon and see what they can do

you can get the patch that enables you to play old xbox games

haha still not fixed be my update ive been working it really sucks 7 am to well dark i worked till 9 one time that sucked i literally had to time out drive the 20 minutes home take a shower and go to sleep but im quiting this week cause i only wanted a part time job and this is like 2 full time jobs i was told 7 to 4 and that getting off at 4 on wednesdays for youth wouldnt be a problem but yet every week i never get off till close to 6 but hopefully soon ill have some time to get my box fixed and play something maybe once my bank card comes i can fix it
