November 2, 2009 - Breaking News: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is going to sell a lot of copies.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter sent a note to investors this morning saying publisher Activsion will be printing money this holiday, with sales of Infinity Ward's upcoming sequel reaching epic proportions.

"We expect global sales to exceed $500 million in the first week following launch, and think that the company can easily sell 10 million units in Q4," Pachter wrote.

By comparison, Halo 3, which is considered one of the biggest entertainment launches of all time, raked in only $300 million.

Retailer GameStop recently predicted sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would also be freakishly high, expecting it to be one of the highest selling titles ever.

"We believe Modern Warfare 2 has a chance to be the largest title of all-time, and obviously we're basing that on the reservation activity that we are seeing in our stores," said GameStop VP of Marketing Tony Bartel.

WOW!..500 million!?!?!?..thats insane!

And that's just the pre-orders too. I know a lot of people who plan on just picking up a copy at Wal-mart.

Some may have been up in arms about arguably disturbing material and unarguably juvenile advertising in and for Modern Warfare 2, but it doesn't seem to be showing any signs of stifling anticipation for the game. In fact, GameStop told Game Hunters that Infinity Ward's baby is the most pre-ordered title in the company's history. Like ... ever. GameStop VP Tony Bartel told the site, "As of today, the number of pre-order reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network."

i think it will out sell GTA 4 whcih if memory serves me right now holds the record for most sales. i believe it beat Halo 3. so yeah im gonna go ahead and say that MW2 will be BIGGER THAN HALO 3 & GTA 4 (but not combined)

i thought halo 3 was the most selling game ever?..it had like 400 million copys sold..i think..i could be wrong though..but anyways..it is going to be the most selling game ever!..no doubt about that...

now i do not know if gta 4 has out sold halo 3 overall but it did with in 24hr beat halo's 24hrs sales records

GTA4 wasn't even a good game at all. I played about 6 hours into it and was literally so bored with it I couldn't play it anymore. I haven't picked it up since about 2 weeks after I bought it. The missions were incredibly repetitious(I mean really, every single mission I played was basically, "Go here and kill this guy....Oh Noes!! The copz showed up!! You have to runzzzz!!), the storyline played out way too slow, and the little "date" missions were far too annoying.

I think I should also mention that this is coming from a person who played GTA3 at least 2 or 3 times a month from the day it released all the way up until my PS2 died last year.

i liked gta for just being able to go anywhere do anything but i agree the date missions were verry gay and doing stuff with all the dudes friends got really hard to keep em happy but now that i think about it everyones that like that milo game for the natal thing its like a virtual friend although a gay one and im like if you want virtual friends play gta they wont leave you the freak alone reminds me of some of mine
